Major Building Renovation and Extensions
Murray Downs Club News - Quarterly Issue 3 - 2009.
Murray Downs Golf and Country Club is about to commence a major building renovation and extension which will improve and extend the facilities and services to members and guests.
The club has repaid all its debt to the ANZ Bank and has only two payments to make to repay the debenture holders and pre-receiver creditors.
Whilst we have experienced some downturn in our profitability as a result of the current economic climate, the directors and management are confident that the club will remain profitable.
It is now time to upgrade and extend the facilities at our club.
The board and management after consultation with our architects, have adopted plans for the following:
- Total renovation and extension of the kitchen
- Construction of a coffee shop where our TAB is currently located
- Construction of toilets and office for bowlers
- Relocation of the staircase
- Construction of a new extension to the south of the existing dining area to provide a room capable of seating approximately 140-150 people. This area will be used for normal dining or will be available to book for that special occasion.
- Repainting the interior of the building
- Redesign of reception area.
The renovations will need to be done over a period of several months and unfortunately there may be some inconvenience at times. However the end result will provide better facilities and reduce queuing times when ordering meals. It is proposed that meals will be delivered to the table once the renovations are complete.
Updates including estimated time schedules will be provided in future quarterly newsletters.

Introducing Ingram Rd Sauvignon Blanc
Murray Downs Club News - Quarterly Issue 3 - 2009.
Located in the Yarra Valley, Helen’s Hill Estate is one of a number of Australian wineries stepping up to the challenge of being added to the illustrious Murray Downs Wine List.
Wine maker Scott McCarthy (born and breed in Mildura) spent his early years making wine for Yalumba before gaining valuable experience in the Napa Valley, France and four years in Marlborough NZ before returning to the Yarra Valley. During his time in NZ it is fair to say that Scott made quite a bit of Sauvignon Blanc and he now combines this wine making experience with premium Estate grown Yarra Valley fruit to produce a “Savvy” that is giving other wineries looking to be added to our wine list a real run for their money.
Pale straw in colour, herbaceous, grassy characters on the nose, tropical fruit flavours on the palate and a clean, crisp, fresh finish are the hallmarks of the Ingram Rd Sauvignon Blanc.
Murray Downs is a tough market to crack and I’m confident you’ll enjoy this new wine list addition at Murray Downs.
